First of all we chose two random objects. From an analysis of these objects we drew/documented the main characteristics/features using pencils and ink.

once our initial vessel ideas were developed on paper we began to work tree-dimensionally using wire, card and paper.

Our tutors gave us a few ideas and methods to help us with our project.
Starting to create Vessels
Taking a small lump of clay to start and form it into a ball shape
using your thumb of one hand and the palm of another, start to rotate the ball of clay in your hand, push your thumb into the centre and pull outwards as you rotate to create this hollow half shaped sphere.
Do this to another small ball of clay and join the two together. smooth the two edges together to create a hollow sphere.

The above vessel was made with using just one of the half sphere pieces and then a flat piece of clay was placed on top and joined with a design cut out of the centre.

this piece was made using the full hollow sphere but making it more egg shaped and flattening the top. It also has a design cut from the top.

This piece was made in the same way as the previous piece only with a slightly different design. I made long coils and then flattened them with a roller. Using a piece of cloth I smoothed one side of the now flattened coil to make a sharper edge. I then scored and slipped the thicher edge and fixed it onto the vessel in a spiral like shape.

This piece was made slightly different to the other vessels. This was made using the pinch pot method. I then made a little foot for it to help it stand and then I started to make think knife like pieces in the same way as the previous vessel and added the to the exterior of the pinch pot
